What's a Story?

In the options from the Meta Business create tab you’ll see Create Post or Create Story.

A story is time-based media displayed in successive clips that expire after 24 hours. This content is not restricted to video, and can include images, animated stickers, and clickable links. Oftentimes, all three! When adding to your story, you can easily add text stickers, animated sparkles, clickable links, and even polls! Tag a friend account, and they will receive a notification that you're in it together to grow your following.

Unfortunately, you cannot add these useful stickers to a story from meta business suite or instagram on a desktop. Due to monetization efforts, meta restricts this to paid Ads on a desktop. HOWEVER, using your mobile app will allow you to add stickers, tags, and other multimedia features for free. (Let me know if you need help turning off the firestorm of notifications that come with your mobile app)

NOTE: Because these stories expire after 24 hours, don't spend much of your energy on them now while we are still building your following. Practice if you would like, but don't expect a significant impact at this point. (there's a lie in this to be discussed at the end)

What's a Post?

A post is a stable image or video that will remain on your wall forever. Think of a fence post or posting to a message board. Focus your content on credibility building branded testimonials, workshop postings, and active photos of full classrooms. You cannot share directly as a Post, so generating this content is all on you. Here's a helpful anatomy illustration:

In addition to your wall, posts will appear in your follower's scrollable feed of images and videos, so remember to give context to your images in the accompanying description area. Pull out key terms that may be searched or themes you are discussing, add them to the end of your description as hashtags.

What's the Strategy?

As a review, there is a two part approach we are recommending.

Content in your feed should be about you and your products and partnerships.

  • branded testimonials (include images where available)

  • ideas around education (build thought leadership credentials)

  • workshop promotion (images or designed graphics.)

  • photos of past events (enthusiastic learning, with your branding in the photo where possible to make sure it doesn't look like stock images.)

Content in your story should be enthusiasm about your community.

  • Share content thought leaders are posting

    • instructional design experts

    • authors

    • curriculum producers

    • universities & professors

  • Engage with neighboring districts and administrators

  • Promote learning opportunities & events

  • Mix in some of your own events and content

Here's the small lie from above. Sharing content from others in your story and/or tagging other accounts will message that account and encourage them to share your story. This increases visibility and can build social partnerships. You might even get reposted by an account with significant following and start trending. SO, time intensive posts are probably not worth the effort at this time, but a thoughtful connection can be very productive.
