Leadership for Learning


Virtual Dates: December 2, 2025, January 14, 2025, February 11, 2025

Each course participant will also have two virtual sessions one-on-one with Dr. Stephanie Leonard to provide an opportunity for targeted planning and feedback for their respective districts.

Leadership for Learning is a professional learning experience designed for district-level administrators responsible for improving academic outcomes for all learners. This includes roles such as Directors of Teaching and Learning, Curriculum and Instruction, Special Education/Student Services, Chief Academic Officers, and Assistant Superintendents for Teaching and Learning. The course provides actionable leadership strategies that support continuous academic improvement through a guaranteed and viable curriculum. Leaders will deepen their capacity to create system-wide coherence, foster effective instructional practices, and sustain improvement efforts across diverse school communities.

Core course topics include:

  • Leading for system-wide coherence through aligned vision, strategy, and instructional priorities;

  • Designing and implementing high-impact, standards-aligned curriculum;

  • Defining and supporting high-leverage adult practices using adult learning frameworks and practice profiles;

  • Building effective educator collaboration systems to ensure all students access grade-level standards;

  • Deepening instructional implementation through training, coaching, monitoring, and feedback;

  • Strengthening the instructional leadership of site-based administrators through targeted leadership coaching;

  • Applying data-informed decision-making to monitor student progress and instructional impact;

  • Managing change effectively using implementation science and systems thinking to scale and sustain initiatives.

About the Instructor:

Dr. Stephanie Leonard has served as a public educator for 33 years in Indiana, Colorado, and Wisconsin. Throughout her career in 4K-12 public school districts, Stephanie has served as a classroom teacher, resource teacher, district-wide program coordinator, elementary principal, director of instruction, and assistant superintendent. Stephanie recently completed her eleventh year in her current role as the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching, Learning, and Equity. In addition to her full-time role in the Sun Prairie Area School District, Stephanie serves as a coach for administrators across the state through the Association for Wisconsin School Administrators, an independent consultant for school districts throughout southeastern Wisconsin, and an adjunct professor for Viterbo University.
